AISI 420 (1.4021) is a martensitic stainless steel that provides good corrosion resistance similar to 410 plus increased strength and hardness. 1.4021 is magnetic in both the annealed and hardened conditions. Maximum corrosion resistance is attained only in the fully hardened condition.

Suitable For
AISI 420 (1.4021) is used on cutlery, surgical and dental instruments, scissors, tapes, straight edges, fasteners, firearms, valve parts, pump shafts, automatic screw machined parts, motor shafts, washing machine components, bolts and nuts, studs, gears and shear blades.
Remarks
AISI 420 (1.4021) is capable of being heat treated to a hardness of HRC 51 minimum.
